Design tab

The Design tab allows you to check design results after running an analysis. Using this tab, you can check stresses, moments, shears, and section capacities. You can also check the approximate amount of post-tensioning force required to keep the stresses within the allowable limits and the minimum concrete strength (fck) for compressive stress.

The Design tab also allows you to determine the number and size for longitudinal reinforcement and for shear stirrups. You may copy the reinforcement design to the model for a subsequent analysis. All buttons will be disabled until an analysis has been performed.

Viewing Design Results

To view the structure's design results, click the Design Results button to open the Design Results screen.

Modifying Longitudinal Rebar

To modify the structure's longitudinal rebar after running the analysis, click the Rebar button to open the Longitudinal Rebar dialog box.

Modifying Stirrups

To modify the structure's stirrups after running the analysis, click the Stirrups button to open the Stirrups dialog box.

Technical Discussion

The Design tab is used to view all design related (stresses, capacities, allowables, capacity/demand ratios, minimum Pjack, initial and final concrete compressive strengths) after performing an analysis. The tab also allows you to design the number and size of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement requirements and then have the design copied to the model for a subsequent analysis.

The Design Results screen (displayed after pressing the Design Results button) is used to display design responses for service and strength type combinations. Making any change to the structure or loadings after closing the Design Results screen will invalidate the results and result in a new analysis when pressing the Run Analysis button or the Run Analysis option from the View menu. A re-analysis will not occur if the structure and loads have not changed.
